Senior, Budget Analyst - 250 Day

About the role

The Senior Budget Analyst will provide support for Special Education programs and assist with the development, preparation, oversight, and reporting of department and school budgets for Prince William County Schools (PWCS).

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex analyses for the annual and long-range financial plan.
• Maintain and update budget models and reports.
• Monitor the progress towards the divisions' strategic plan through financial analysis.
• Support the development and implementation of budget strategies.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with overall school district goals.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in budget analysis and management.
• Strong knowledge of financial management principles.
• Experience with budgeting software and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of federal and state funding requirements for education.
• Knowledge of special education funding mechanisms.
