Senior Bridge Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our team. This role involves preparing bridge designs following FDOT PD&E process, working on various types of bridge projects, obtaining and leading bridge inspection teams, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bridge designs following FDOT PD&E process.
• Work on projects that typically include bridges (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, and moveable) box culvert, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
• Obtain your Florida Bridge Inspector team leader.
• Perform bridge inspections as FDOT bridge inspection leader.
• Work with Florida staff to establish a bridge inspection team to aid the national bridge inspection division.
• Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
• Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Build relationships with and deliver work for local clients.
• Aid the Bridges and Structures Area Lead with the management of bridge engineers.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structures emphasis.
• Florida PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Florida DOT design experience.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
• Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
• Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
• Experience preparing project scope, fee, and schedule.
• Experience in project pursuits.
• Experience managing junior staff.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, AutoCAD and MicroStation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structures emphasis.
• Florida PE or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Pay

Salary range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design.
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
