About the role
We are seeking a senior project engineer who is excited to develop their own team. We are looking for a self-starter with a detailed understanding of transportation engineering and modeling lateral structures.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers; providing guidance, mentoring, support, and professional development opportunities. Fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
- Actively participate in the hiring process for new team members, ensuring the selection of qualified and motivated individuals who align with our culture and values.
- Procure new contracts and clients by identifying opportunities, developing proposals, and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Oversee and manage structural engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
- Help ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction with our services.
- Provide technical knowledge and guidance on lateral structural engineering within the roadway industry, including areas like bridge and wall design. Act as Engineer of Record for your own work as well as work completed under your direction.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and growth of the local office, setting and achieving long-term goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering required.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) in Utah required.
- Structural Engineering license (SE) in Utah required.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in transportation engineering preferred.
- 2+ years in management or leadership role preferred.
Skills
- Design experience with AASHTO LFRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes and standards.
- Proficiency in MathCAD, STAAD Pro, LPILE, LEAP Bridge software, MDX, Bentley/MicroStation products, Midas, LARSA 4D, or other equivalent engineering bridge software.
- Proficiency in seismic and non-linear analysis as well as soil structure interaction analysis, and post-tensioned concrete.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented and self-starter; can work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple high-priority assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn, provide feedback, and receive feedback.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of UDOT processes and agreements is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 100% of the time.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as scanner/printer, paper cutter, laminator, etc.
- Constantly communicates with discipline experts, clients, team members, etc. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to perceive digital software, programs, and websites.
- Frequently traverses uneven, sloped, or rugged terrain for extended durations.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
