Essential Functions
- Analyzes financial statements, work in progress reports, and assesses creditworthiness for account approvals or declines.
- Gathers necessary information to support decision-making on bond requests.
- Maintains and updates account files, and conducts regular visits to ensure compliance and address any issues.
- Serves as a resource for other underwriters, providing guidance and training on the underwriting process and best practices.
- Maintains and expands agency relationships through interactions with agents, contractors, and clients.
- Educates agents on EMC's bond philosophy and services.
- Participates in industry events to stay informed and network with peers.
- Communicates proactively with agents to anticipate their needs and drive profitable growth.
- Plans and participates in events to establish new agency relationships.
- Underwrites new account submissions within an assigned authority level, analyzing financial statements and reports.
- Sets up new account files and conducts frequent visits to monitor performance and address any concerns.
Requirements
Location: Ideal candidates must be located in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, or Minnesota.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Six years of experience with bond underwriting, or related experience.
- Affiliate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation preferred.

- Excellent bond underwriting knowledge.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding multitasking and organizational abilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards.
Benefits
