About the role
The Senior Bioprocess Scientist and Training Manager will oversee the Massachusetts Training Center (MTC), focusing on the teaching lab, applications lab, and equipment demonstration area. This role involves designing and executing technology courses to promote AKB products and services, particularly Planova Virus Removal Filters and related bioprocessing technologies.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Design and execute technology courses promoting AKB product sales and support.
- Develop and implement experiments in the application lab to assist in marketing and sales of AKB products and customer-specific applications.
- Adopt new test methods, instruments, and procedures, preparing proposals for customers and monitoring equipment and assays.
- Strategically plan the MTC site to enhance customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty.
- Manage staff by communicating best practices, training, and coaching new team members, and providing day-to-day supervision.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with application regulations for a BSL-1 lab.
- Maintain a safe and suitable environment for testing, free from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
- Prepare and present forecasts and budgets for MTC department expense budgets, capital expenses, and inventory management policies, approving monthly orders.
Minimum/Preferred Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree or higher in life-science-related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree in life-science related field with 10+ years of experience may also be applicable.
- Experience: 3-5 years of laboratory management, including personnel, budget, and protocol documentation.
- Preferred Experience: Leadership in biotech, bioprocess, or life science industries.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of flow, tangential flow filtration, and purification techniques by liquid chromatography; basic upstream cell culture techniques.
- Skills: Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions
- 10% travel as required by territory geography and company needs.
- Based in Chelmsford, MA.
Pay
The base compensation range for this role is $150,000 - $165,000. Base compensation is influenced by various factors including time in the role, previous experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business/economic conditions.
