About the role

A leading law firm is seeking an experienced remote Senior Billing Specialist to manage complex, high-volume billing portfolios for institutional and high-profile clients. This individual will serve as a billing subject-matter expert, partnering with attorneys, Accounting, Legal Support Services, and other internal teams to provide comprehensive billing and client account support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex domestic and international billing portfolios, including high-volume and electronic billing accounts
  • Oversee the full billing cycle, including prebill review, invoice preparation, approvals, finalization, and submission
  • Process billing adjustments such as write-offs, deferrals, and time transfers
  • Research and resolve billing inquiries and electronic invoice rejections
  • Maintain and communicate detailed client billing requirements and Outside Counsel Guidelines
  • Prepare and review monthly billing, accrual, forecasting, and financial reports
  • Generate and submit electronic billing files, including LEDES, according to client requirements
  • Coordinate global billing activities and communicate with international offices to ensure timely and accurate invoicing
  • Monitor client budgets and follow up on billing issues that may impact financial performance
  • Track and resolve Accounting Service Desk requests within established deadlines
  • Partner with internal teams to improve billing processes and overall client service
  • Serve as a resource and backup for billing leadership when needed
  • Train and mentor other billing team members
  • Support process improvement initiatives and special projects

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of law firm billing or client accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience with Aderant or Elite 3E is required
  • Experience managing complex, high-volume billing portfolios
  • Strong knowledge of electronic billing platforms and LEDES
  • Experience with client billing guidelines and Outside Counsel Guidelines
  • Domestic and international billing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and client-service abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict billing deadlines
  • Experience training or mentoring other billing professionals is a plus

Work Arrangement

  • 100% Remote
  • Open to candidates located within the U.S.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, and internal teams across multiple time zones
  • Remote work environment with regular virtual communication and team collaboration
