About the role
The Senior Benefits Analyst plays a critical role in the planning, administration, and governance of the company’s benefit programs, with a strong focus on retirement plans and advanced analytical support across Health & Welfare programs. This role serves as a senior level subject matter expert, providing independent execution, vendor oversight, compliance support, and analytical insight in a complex, highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently administer the company’s retirement plans, including 401(k), defined benefit, and nonqualified plans, covering funding, reconciliations, and coordination with recordkeepers, trustees, treasury, and payroll.
- Serve as the day to day lead for third party vendors supporting retirement and nonqualified plans.
- Perform ongoing compliance monitoring (ERISA, 409A, and other applicable regulations) and lead remediation activities as needed.
- Care for all retirement related audits and filings, including Form 5500s, 11 K financial statements, and PBGC payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain and update plan documents, amendments, summaries, and required disclosures.
- Support Retirement Plan Committee activities, including preparation of agendas, materials, analyses, and meeting documentation.
- Manage the financial wellness program initiatives in partnership with the H&W team’s overall wellness messaging.
- Provide advanced analytical and operational support to Health & Welfare programs, partnering with the H&W team on wellness and financial wellbeing initiatives.
- Support vendor management activities, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and contract review.
- Analyze benefit data, trends, and benchmarking to inform plan design and strategy decisions.
- Resolve complex and escalated employee and retiree inquiries, exercising independent judgment and coordination with vendors as needed.
- Develop and support employee communications, including presentations, written materials, and targeted education sessions.
- Lead or play a key role in benefits related projects, including plan changes, vendor transitions, system changes, and integration or harmonization initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and reduce operational risk.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential impact to benefit programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits administration, with deep expertise in retirement plans.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA, 409A, and retirement plan compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting audits, regulatory filings, and plan governance.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively during peak cycles and change initiatives.
- Advanced analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate in complexity, build new processes, operate autonomously.
- Ability to run reports from HRIS and Payroll systems.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and/or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
- Experience supporting both union and non union populations.
- Exposure to multi entity or global benefits environments.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (HR Operations, IT, Finance) and external vendors on system integrations, upgrades, and support.
