Senior Behavioral Health Therapist, Day Shift, Behavioral Health Inpatient

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Senior Behavioral Health Therapist for our Behavioral Health Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Qualified candidates will be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus. (*Current AHC employees not eligible.)

About the role

As a Senior Behavioral Health Therapist, you will provide quality therapeutic care tailored to the age, diagnoses, developmental state, and mental status of assigned clients.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and implement complete, comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
• Provide individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families.
• Participate in an interdisciplinary treatment team to develop strategies and interventions promoting excellent therapeutic outcomes.
• Assist clients in developing self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-actualization through traditional and adjunctive therapeutic services.
• Document services and disseminate information/reports to community referral sources and agencies (e.g., DJS, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC).
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources for aftercare and supportive services to ensure successful discharge planning.
• Demonstrate skills to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety and stability.
• Assess and intervene in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse.
• Promote positive patient-family-community relations.
• Supervise interns in psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and families, including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy.
• Monitor progress of patients in treatment and formally review treatment plans and goals regularly.
• Supervise interns’ consultation with other professionals to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery.
• Supervise interns’ documentation, including maintenance of charts in a complete, timely, and legible form as required by state DHMH.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical social work experience, preferably in medical or behavioral health settings.
• Current licensure as LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in conducting substance use assessments with ASAM criteria.
• Experience facilitating group therapy with adults and/or adolescents preferred.
• Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Schedule

• Employment Type: Full-time
• Hours per Week: 40 hrs/week
• Typical Daily Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Shift Type: Day Shift
• Weekend rotation requirement.
• Shift Differential Eligible: Yes

Pay

• Pay Range: $32.17 - $48.25 per hour.
• $10,000 sign-on bonus over 3 installments (paid at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years of hire date). *Current AHC employees are not eligible.
