About the role

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Senior Behavioral Health Therapist for our Behavioral Health Department.

Qualified candidates will be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus. (*Current AHC employees not eligible – see below under additional details.)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality therapeutic care that is appropriate to the age, diagnoses, developmental state, and mental status of the clients that are assigned to their specific unit/department
  • Initiate and implement complete, comprehensive psychosocial assessments
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families
  • Participate in and interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes
  • Assist clients in their development of self-respect, dignity, integrity, and self-actualization through a multitude of traditional and adjunctive therapeutic services
  • Document services provided and disseminates information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJS, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc.
  • Co-Ordinate with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety an stability
  • B Assess and intervenes in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues
  • Promote positive patient-family-community relations
  • Supervise interns psychotherapeutic treatment of patients and their families including individual therapy, parent collateral work, family therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy
  • Maintain progress of patients in treatment and formally reviews treatment plan and goals regularly
  • Supervise interns consultation with other professionals working with the client to assure coordinated and comprehensive service delivery
  • Supervise interns documentation, including maintenance of charts in a complete, timely and legible form, including parent information forms, consent forms, data collection forms, progress notes, and treatment plans and goals as required by state DHMH

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical social work experience, preferably in medical or behavioral health settings
  • CURRENT licensure as LCSW-C, LCPC, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in conducting substance use assessments with ASAM criteria
  • Experience facilitating group therapy with adults and/or adolescents preferred
  • Strong skills in assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment options
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively

$29.08 - $48.25

Full-time, 40 hours/week, Day Shift, Weekend rotation requirement, Holiday rotation requirement, Shift Differential Eligible: Yes

Additional Details

Sign-on bonus over 3 installments (paid at 90 days, 1 year & 2 years of hire date) - Current AHC employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus who are transferring from one entity to another and/or transferring within their entity. Employees that have terminated their employment with AHC are not eligible for a sign-on bonus prior to six months of returning if hired for a position offering a sign-on bonus.

While some jurisdictions, including Maryland, permit the use of marijuana for medical purposes, marijuana continues to be classified as an illegal drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act. Adventist HealthCare will withdraw offers of employment to applicants who test positive for Cotinine (nicotine) and marijuana. Those testing positive are given the opportunity to re-apply in 90 days, if they can truthfully attest that they have not used any nicotine products in the past ninety (90) days and successfully pass follow-up testing.
