About the Role

This opportunity is at FreeWheel, a Comcast Company. Within Comcast Advertising, the Beeswax organization is building an easy-to-use, massive-scale, and high-availability advertising platform. We offer our customers the most extensible and transparent advertising system in the world, processing millions of transactions per second. The role involves managing high-volume data, architecting high-performance distributed systems, and designing elegant API contracts for both internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
  • Conduct analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Design new software and web applications, support applications under development, and customize current applications.
  • Develop software update processes for existing applications and assist in the roll-out of software releases.
  • Train junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
  • Oversee the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Stay current with technological developments within the industry, monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products, and review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to assigned projects.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance on practices, procedures, and techniques. Serve as a mentor for Software Development Engineers.
  • Assist in tracking and evaluating performance metrics, ensuring the team delivers software on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specifications and technical requirements. Test and evaluate systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Act as a technical contact and liaison for outside vendors and/or customers.
  • Present and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiences.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working with Python and Django.
  • Experience creating/developing RESTful APIs using Django.
  • Experience with PHP.
  • Experience with Kubernetes/EKS, AWS, and owning production deployments at scale for critical backend services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relatable technical field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

  • AdTech industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent combination of coursework and experience).
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience.

Pay

New York Pay Range: $148,028.68 - $222,043.02. Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
