Senior Backend Engineer (NYC)

About the role

This role is part of a small, growing team at DualEntry, a fast-growing AI startup focused on transforming the finance industry with its AI-native ERP solutions. The company has raised significant funding and is looking to expand its backend engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build core backend systems
• Design and develop APIs, services, and infrastructure for handling real-time, business-critical accounting logic
• Deploy production-ready features from scratch, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Manage complex systems with evolving requirements, including data migrations and scaling challenges
• Integrate third-party tools and external systems, addressing edge cases and managing risks
• Own the entire software lifecycle, from architecture to testing, monitoring, and post-release care

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering
• Deep experience with complex business logic products
• Experience deploying on AWS (or similar cloud infrastructure)
• Strong database skills: PostgreSQL, SQL, ORMs, migrations, schema design
• Experience building and testing robust APIs
• Solid understanding of software lifecycle, CI/CD, and production-readiness
• Python and a modern web framework (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) is a plus
