Senior Automation and Controls Engineer
Responsibilities
- Apply process automation and control technologies to develop new and upgrade existing automated medical diagnostic consumable device manufacturing equipment, batch processing systems, and semi-finished reagent formulation systems in a constantly changing fast-paced environment.
- Work closely with cross-functional design team members to ensure that the full understanding of subsystem/system functionality and performance is developed.
- Collaborate with IT organization to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing network systems.
- Identify solutions to complex technical issues by troubleshooting, determining root cause, and then proposing design modifications as they pertain to highly complex automated production assembly and packaging system performance.
- Analyze system performance test data and establish acceptance criteria.
- Anticipate potential problems that may impact system performance and develop risk mitigation plans.
- Create technical documentation such as validation documentation, functional specifications, user requirements, and manufacturing work instructions.
- Collaborate with Technical Operations and Manufacturing teams.
Requirements
Required:
- Demonstrated systems and design engineering experience in complex electromechanical instrumentation in both a new process development environment as well as supporting existing installed equipment.
- Extensive experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (Siemens and Rockwell) and electro-mechanical equipment such as motors, photo-electric sensors, vision systems (Keyence and/or Cognex), robotics (FANUC) and pneumatics.
- Extensive experience with Industrial Control Systems design and documentation using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft suite of office products.
- Experience in building and supporting custom object oriented applications in C,C++, C#, HTML, Python, and/or Java to as well as implementing Graphical User Interfaces and Process Data Collection Systems.
- Working knowledge and application experience with Lean business systems and methodologies such as TPM, 5S, Lean 3P Design, & OEE Monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with technical teams and drive results.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Chemical /Computer Engineering or related discipline.
- 5-8 years supporting and installing manufacturing automation and process control designs; including experience in a cGMP Manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Agile development.
Preferred:
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Pay
The Base Pay Range For This Position Is $109,920 - $151,140 Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
