About the role

The Senior Controls & Automation Engineer supports, maintains, and advances automation systems across all global manufacturing facilities. This role serves as the technical leader for plant automation, controls, drives, PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, and data collection infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global automation upgrade projects
  • Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting support
  • Maintain centralized PLC, HMI, drive, servo, and network backups
  • Establish automation standards for controls, networking, safety, and documentation
  • Develop training programs (simple) for PLCs, drives, servos and HMIs
  • Support preventive maintenance and reliability initiatives
  • Define critical automation spare parts and approved suppliers
  • Support capital expenditure planning and execution
  • Implement and support manufacturing data collection systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across all facilities

Automation Standards Ownership

  • Maintain automation standards between plants
  • Program backups (procedures and implementations)
  • Machine safety standards
  • Automation spare parts
  • Documentation

Key Performance Indicators

  • Automation project completion performance
  • Reduction in automation-related downtime
  • Backup compliance
  • Training completion rates
  • Standardization implementation progress
  • Reduction in recurring failures
  • Capital project execution performance
  • Response time to support requests

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of industrial automation experience
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, industrial networking, and machine safety systems
  • Multi-site manufacturing support experience preferred
  • Domestic and international travel as required
