About the role
General Function as the EIC on examinations under the supervision of a Director, as needed.
Responsibilities
- Work with supervisor to ensure that an early, proactive project plan is in place for areas assigned.
- Encourage team to consider/suggest ways to improve prior approach or documentation.
- Strive to perform tasks that add value.
- Review team's qualifications to ensure adequate staffing, communicate any concerns with supervisor.
- Manage assigned staff and assist supervisor with overall engagement.
- Work collaboratively with supervisor to manage the project to a successful completion from a quality and cost standpoint.
- Obtain a clear understanding of expectations and concerns of the DOI and the analysts.
- Work closely with supervisor to ensure the team has a clear understanding of such issues and is actively working to address the issues in a timely manner.
- Assist supervisor in managing deadlines, budgets, and Noble staff.
- Manage for no surprises.
- Proactively identify issues or potential issues and bring them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Provide supervisor with useful, actionable information throughout the examination with suggested solutions for problems identified.
- Proactively communicate with supervisor regarding the status of the area assigned.
- Conduct interviews as assigned.
- Be professional both on site and near the company.
- Be accessible and responsive.
- Work with supervisor to determine reasonable initial scopes, timelines, and budgets.
- Monitor budgets and schedules as requested.
- Proactively communicate with supervisor regarding potential issues that may impact budget.
- Try to foresee these types of occurrences and offer potential solutions.
- Prepare status reports for the DOI and Noble, as requested.
- In the role of an EIC, monitor project status and work with supervisor to ensure vacations, holidays, and work travel do not threaten deadlines.
- In the role of an EIC, strive for early identification of issues that impact time and expenses and work with supervisor to manage these issues.
- Work with supervisor on initial planning to ensure Noble team members understand the project and their responsibilities.
- In the capacity as an EIC, review information requests and all work papers.
- In the capacity as an EIC, ensure the project is in compliance with accreditation standards.
- Encourage and consider Staff ideas for potential improvements.
- Work with supervisor to make sure the approach to the engagement and work plan are appropriate.
- Identify areas in which subject matter expertise may be needed.
- Conduct weekly internal status meetings with team as appropriate to make sure progress is on track with budgets and deadlines.
- Assign engagement responsibilities to Staff as needed on an engagement based on instructions from supervisor.
- Communicate with supervisor and Staff regarding subject matter and potential client issues.
- As an EIC, coordinate activities with specialists (IS, ACL, Reinsurance, Investments, Actuarial) and ensure progress is on track.
- Look for opportunities to expand Noble's role on a project.
- As an EIC, foster relationships with DOI contacts, as appropriate.
- Participate in 360 reviews with Noble staff and project debriefing.
- Perform on the job training with Staff as appropriate.
- As an EIC, continue to expand responsibility of Staff and, thus, increase leverage (as appropriate).
- Be prepared for new engagements; research the client in advance, read relevant industry news and research relevant accounting issues.
- Increase industry knowledge and stay abreast of industry news and relevant accounting issues.
- Be prepared to hand off duties on the project to another team member.
- Communicate regularly and effectively throughout engagement.
- Provide conclusions in an understandable and useful way.
- Provide feedback that will allow our DOI contacts to be better informed as a result of the examination process.
- Work closely with supervisor to manage this process.
