Senior Associate
About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Accounting Associate in Alexandria, VA at one of the Best Places to Work. The role involves developing and maintaining productive working relationships with client personnel, assessing client satisfaction, demonstrating proficiency with accounting and auditing concepts, and effectively communicating accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Principals.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining relationships and communicating with key client personnel to understand business operations, processes, and functions
- Demonstrating an understanding of accounting and auditing concepts and applying them to client situations
- Bridging the gap between logistics procedures and financial accounting processes
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Working in a team environment and communicating effectively with clients and team members
- Balancing multiple projects concurrently
- Supervising and reviewing work performed by other staff
- Applying innovative methodologies that support an audit
- Reviewing and evaluating internal controls and supporting documentation
- Developing solutions for implementation to mitigate deficiencies for internal control activities and supporting documentation
- Determining compliance with policies and selected laws/regulations
Requirements
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting and auditing experience
- Experience working with financial statement compilation
- Ability to navigate a transaction database and determine potential issues or inappropriate posting
- Proficient skills in Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to travel up to 50%
- Active Interim Secret Clearance (or higher, such as Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI) to be considered for this role (requires U.S. citizenship)
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA highly desirable
- Experience with Federal clients, A-123, and internal controls
- Experience working with Federal and/or DoD clients

Pay
The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $100,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
