About the role

The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Senior Assistant District Attorney to join its Trial Unit.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and prosecute felony and misdemeanor cases.
  • Review case files to ensure all relevant evidence is secured, properly documented, and organized for efficient disposition.
  • Interview lay, expert, and law enforcement witnesses.
  • Analyze case files and draft memoranda concerning charging decisions.
  • Present cases to grand juries.
  • Try cases, examine and prepare witnesses for trial, and plan trial strategy.
  • Research all points of law, draft memoranda on complex legal issues, and research, write, and argue motions and court orders.
  • Train law enforcement personnel on obtaining necessary evidence to prosecute crimes and advise them on various legal issues.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of junior attorneys and staff.
  • Report to a Trial Unit Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of prosecutorial experience in Georgia.
  • Extensive jury trial experience as First Chair to verdict.
  • Ability to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints.
