About the role
The DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Senior Assistant District Attorney to join its Trial Unit.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and prosecute felony and misdemeanor cases.
- Review case files to ensure all relevant evidence is secured, properly documented, and organized for efficient disposition.
- Interview lay, expert, and law enforcement witnesses.
- Analyze case files and draft memoranda concerning charging decisions.
- Present cases to grand juries.
- Try cases, examine and prepare witnesses for trial, and plan trial strategy.
- Research all points of law, draft memoranda on complex legal issues, and research, write, and argue motions and court orders.
- Train law enforcement personnel on obtaining necessary evidence to prosecute crimes and advise them on various legal issues.
- Negotiate with opposing counsel.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior attorneys and staff.
- Report to a Trial Unit Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of prosecutorial experience in Georgia.
- Extensive jury trial experience as First Chair to verdict.
- Ability to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints.
