About the role

The Office of Child and Family Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Assistant Caseworker, Office Support, to help maintain efficient office operations within a child welfare setting. This position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while supporting staff, clients, and community partners. The ideal candidate will be dependable, customer service focused, and capable of managing a variety of administrative responsibilities with accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a clerical resource to professional child welfare social work staff by providing direct client and case related support services.
  • Takes and distributes meeting minutes, answers phones, greets visitors and clients, completes Clear Search requests, assists with supervised visits, transports youth and clients, maintains files and records, prepares court and client documentation, processes financial transactions, and assists with additional office and case support functions as assigned.
  • Assists in covering the reception area, greets and assists walk-in clients, receives incoming telephone calls and directs them to the appropriate staff member, prepares letters and/or documentation for courts and/or clients, mails certified mail to clients or sheriff, tracks in SAFE case system, creates, maintains, scans, and/or archives files, reports, etc., retrieves files for workers, AGs, supervisors, and audits, assists with 24-hour notifications and priors, maintains the upkeep of office equipment, takes and transcribes minutes at meetings, assists with completing Medicaid applications, responsible for processing payments, managing financial transactions and handling other related financial tasks as assigned, assists with transportation of clients and children, supervises and monitors visits, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous and/or current experience working for the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS).
  • Experience with the State's social welfare database system, SAFE.
  • Adobe Pro, Google and Microsoft experience.

Travel required; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance. All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA). Must have a valid Utah driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

Moderate - Some of the work performed requires some physical exertion. You may be required to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend; crouch; stoop; stretch; reach; lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), e.g. lifting a small child in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. Working Conditions Moderate Risk - Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g. safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
