About The Role
The Office of Child and Family Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Assistant Caseworker, Office Support, to help maintain efficient office operations within a child welfare setting. This position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while supporting staff, clients, and community partners. The ideal candidate will be dependable, customer service focused, and capable of managing a variety of administrative responsibilities with accuracy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a clerical resource to professional child welfare social work staff by providing direct client and case-related support services.
- Take and distribute meeting minutes.
- Answer phones, greet visitors and clients.
- Complete Clear Search requests.
- Assist with supervised visits and transport youth and clients.
- Maintain files and records, prepare court and client documentation.
- Process financial transactions.
- Assist in covering the reception area; greet and assist walk-in clients.
- Receive incoming telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Prepare letters and/or documentation for courts and/or clients.
- Mail certified mail to clients or sheriff; track in SAFE case system.
- Create, maintain, scan, and/or archive files, reports, etc.
- Retrieve files for workers, AGs, supervisors, and audits.
- Assist with 24-hour notifications and priors.
- Maintain the upkeep of office equipment.
- Take and transcribe minutes at meetings.
- Assist with completing Medicaid applications.
- Process payments and manage financial transactions.
- Transport clients and children.
- Supervise and monitor visits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous and/or current experience working for the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS).
- Experience with the State's social welfare database system, SAFE.
- Proficiency in Adobe Pro, Google, and Microsoft applications.
- Current and valid Utah driver’s license.
- Must pass a Background Screening Application (BSA).
- May require 24-hour on-call services; response time determined by the agency.
- Travel required; may use personal vehicle (mileage reimbursable).
- Must physically work within the State of Utah boundaries.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate physical exertion, including standing, walking over rough surfaces, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching.
- Lifting moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), such as a small child, in a recurring manner and/or for long periods.
Working Conditions
- Moderate risk typical of an office setting (adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated).
- May involve sitting, walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile.
