Senior Architect – Mission Critical

Lead project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of sectors, including corporate, healthcare, sports venues, data centers, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design from the conceptual phase through design completion, adapting plans to budget constraints, environmental factors, or client needs.
  • Develop, modify, and review production drawings for healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Participate in project scheduling, scope definition, budget planning, staffing, and construction planning.
  • Manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of architectural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures; compile studies, reports, and specifications.
  • Develop non-standard design solutions for complex projects.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings to ensure compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability.
  • Oversee construction administration, including coordination with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and material testing.
  • Lead field inspections, installations, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors; develop new business opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts; identify, lead, and manage key pursuits.
  • Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial performance targets.
  • Prepare, present, and manage project budgets and cost estimates; report project performance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced staff and the broader architectural practice.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and company/site safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program and 8+ years of related experience, or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited program and 7+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum eight years of architectural experience preferred.
  • Registered architect preferred.
  • Portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of building codes, ADA standards, exterior envelope design, technical detailing, and specification writing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Proficiency in BIM (Revit), Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering software preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, and organization.
  • Experience leading design teams for large, complex projects, delegating tasks, and guiding internal and client groups toward successful outcomes.
  • Ability to conduct detailed quality reviews of architectural documents.
  • Experience with construction phase activities, including site visits, shop drawing review, and contractor/client correspondence.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%).

Pay

$135,000–$195,000 yearly. The expected compensation range is based on individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package includes a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
