About the role
Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Senior Air Quality Professional to join our team in the South Division. This position is available in Charlotte, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina; or Atlanta, Georgia.
The primary role is to provide environmental and engineering technical support for various aspects of air quality compliance programs, including preparation of emission inventories, permit application development, regulatory review, compliance recordkeeping, and greenhouse gas reporting. The applicant should have strong technical experience with air quality analyses and experience interacting with clients and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate would also mentor junior staff on technical work and communicate with clients.
This position may also provide multi-media environmental compliance support to industrial, transportation, energy, and other clients, including stormwater permitting, SPCC plan development, waste management support, compliance auditing, and industrial hygiene support. Additional activities may include site assessment and groundwater remediation support.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Air Quality compliance
- Strong technical experience with air quality analyses
- Working knowledge of Federal and various State air quality regulations
- Demonstrated expertise with environmental regulatory requirements in the southeastern United States
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word and Excel
- Strong experience writing and communicating technical material
- Proficient at communicating with clients and the public
- Some travel may be necessary
Minimum Experience
- Emission calculations
- Minor source permitting
- Proficiency with air emissions software such as E&P Tanks and GRI GlyCalc
Preferred Experience
- Air Dispersion modeling
- Major source and Title V permitting
- Experience in the mining sector, with a focus on air compliance for mining operations
- Project and/or Client management
- Professional Engineering, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or other professional certification
