About the role

We are seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer to join our Engineering Hub. You will be responsible for developing and delivering web modules and microservices for a globally distributed platform that connects hospitals and labs. Your primary focus will be on genomics interpretation, data processing, and analysis, using AI to contribute to our SaaS platform.

Responsibilities

  • Ship full-stack product features, owning components end-to-end.
  • Lead code and design reviews; mentor junior engineers and raise the team's engineering quality.
  • Prototype fast and iterate — take early ideas to working, reliable software.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture, and PMO to align delivery with product vision and regulatory needs.
  • Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines over curated clinical data sources and internal databases.
  • Design system and task-specific prompts, structured output, and provenance/citation handling.
  • Build LLM evaluation into the product: graders and evaluation pipelines that score accuracy, relevance, and grounding, plus guardrails that verify citations resolve and are relevant.
  • Use managed LLM endpoints on Azure AI Foundry effectively (caching, tools, structured output), and share these practices with the team.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years building and releasing reliable web-based services to production.
  • Back-end: strong Java and SQL, microservice architecture.
  • Front-end: React and modern JavaScript.
  • Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience with production LLM applications — specifically RAG pipelines and/or LLM evaluation — OR clear, demonstrable evidence of rapidly self-learning new technical areas to production quality.
  • Experience using AI tooling in the SDLC (AI-assisted coding, review, documentation).
  • Strong communication and a real appetite for mentoring.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong plus: Prompt engineering, structured/JSON output, and reasoning about faithfulness, calibration and hallucination.
  • Experience with Azure AI Foundry or equivalent managed inference platforms; prompt caching.
  • GraphQL, observability (Grafana, Loki), modern DevOps.
  • Experience in genomics, digital healthcare, or another regulated domain.
