Senior AI Java Developer Tech Lead

About the Role

This position is for a Senior AI Developer Tech Lead to support a significant technical transformation in Broker-Dealer Systems and the modernization of core technology infrastructure. The role will lead AI-focused workflows across the System Development Life Cycle, working at the intersection of AI technology and complex financial domains. The objective is to build intelligent systems that directly impact the retirement security of millions of people.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-focused workflows across the System Development Life Cycle.
• Design and architect systems in a greenfield environment.
• Mentor junior developers and act as a Tech Lead or Team Lead.
• Implement and deploy AI/ML solutions in production.
• Drive IT transformations and system modernization from legacy to distributed platforms.
• Collaborate in a team environment to develop large-scale software using Java, Spring framework, cloud development, and Web Services for high-volume transactions.
• Utilize GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) for implementation, refactoring, testing, and automation.
• Apply working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, and prompt engineering.
• Develop and maintain systems using containers, microservices, and cloud deployment within a CI/CD model.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale software using Java, Spring framework, cloud development, and Web Services for high-volume transactions.
• 6+ years of experience with containers and microservices in the cloud.
• 6+ years of experience in cloud deployment within a CI/CD model.
• 5+ years of experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.
• 5+ years of experience with databases such as MongoDB, Aerospike, and/or PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML implementation and production deployment.
• 2+ years of experience in IT transformations and system modernization from legacy to distributed platforms.

Skills

• Demonstrated experience with GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
• Experience acting as a Tech Lead or Team Lead, including mentoring junior developers.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (e.g., GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, PaLM).
• Understanding of broker-dealer capabilities and operations.
• Proven ability to communicate and lead other engineers in a collaborative environment.
• Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, and prompt engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies like Rabbit MQ or Kafka.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and QA Automation.
• Proficiency in developing Visio diagrams, architectural documentation, and technical specifications.
• Willingness to learn all aspects of the tech stack and document findings.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience in an Agile work environment.
• Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA, Confluence).
