Senior Agent Lifecycle Engineer - Fully Remote Position

Salary Range: $50,000 - $250,000
Note: The base salary range listed above represents a good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum target for this position. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate's geographic location, job-related skills, experience, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the agent lifecycle: initiation, context gathering, decision-making, escalation, and workflow completion.
  • Implement the logic and steps agents follow: validation, routing, lookups, tool calls, escalations, and end-states.
  • Develop and refine LLM-assisted workflows to ensure predictable and safe agent behavior.
  • Build and tune retrieval (RAG) over our knowledge bases and evaluate grounding quality.
  • Integrate agents with internal and external systems (internal APIs, messaging/telephony, and the AI gateway).
  • Implement guardrails, safety rules, fallback logic, and human-handoff behavior.
  • Build observability around agent behavior: logs, state transitions, evaluation signals, and audit trails, without leaking PHI.
  • Own and extend the evaluation harness (scenario-based evals, LLM-as-judge, retrieval evals) and wire it into CI.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of AI and Senior Data & Cloud Engineer on workflow design and technical rollout.
  • Write, test, and deploy high-quality production code for agentic responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Laravel expertise required.
  • Experience with full-stack development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
