Senior Agent Engineer

About the role

The Senior Agent Engineer will lead the development of advanced AI-driven tools that modernize a critical legacy system, ensuring its continued reliability and usability for millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical ceiling for translation accuracy, dependency-map correctness, hallucination control, and multi-agent orchestration.
• Drive the prompt-and-eval iteration cycle in partnership with the RAG & Eval Engineer.
• Own the agent layer of the platform, including architecture, prompts, tool surfaces, multi-agent orchestration, and the eval loop.
• Write production agent code daily, focusing on subagents and multi-agent workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience shipping at least one production agent with real users and real-world failure modes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Working fluency across the modern agent stack, including tool use, MCP, evals, RAG, streaming, and multi-agent coordination.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript or Python.
• Comfort with measurement, regression detection, and prompt-and-eval iteration.
• Heavy native use of AI tooling, including agents in parallel and models as collaborators.
• Experience in a remote work environment.

Qualifications

• Fluency in legacy languages or systems.
• Background in compilers, program analysis, or static/dynamic code understanding.
• Open-source contributions to agent frameworks, MCP servers, or eval harnesses.
• Public technical writing or conference talks on production agent work.
• Experience in healthcare IT or legacy modernization.
