About the role

We are seeking an experienced Theater Services Projection Technician to support professional cinema projection facilities used for classes, screenings, and special events. This is a specialized cinema operations position requiring hands-on experience with professional projection and film/video exhibition.

Responsibilities

• Operate professional projection equipment for class screenings and events across multiple theaters.
• Prepare, load, and support playback of DCPs (Digital Cinema Packages) and other screening content.
• Perform picture, sound, visual, and overall projection quality checks.
• Troubleshoot projection, playback, sound, and related technical issues during screenings.
• Support operation and maintenance of professional digital cinema projectors, including Christie Digital projection equipment.
• Coordinate rental, delivery, and return of DCPs and film prints.
• Operate sound and visual equipment for screenings and special events.
• Assist student workers with projection equipment and proper projection practices.
• Support routine equipment maintenance and coordinate vendor repairs when necessary.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in film/video exhibition, cinema projection, and/or video engineering technology.
• Advanced knowledge of professional film projection or video exhibition.
• Hands-on DCP and digital cinema projection experience strongly preferred.
• Christie Digital projector experience highly desirable.
• Experience supporting professional/public screenings and events.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with microphones, speakers, digital sound equipment, cables, and related A/V equipment.
• 16mm and/or 35mm film projection experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical support in a fast-paced screening environment.
• Comfortable interacting with and mentoring students in an academic environment.
