About the role
The Senior Accounting Manager will lead Filoli's accounting operations, working closely with program directors and the Controller. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role involves overseeing the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP and audits. Additionally, you will partner with department leaders to develop budgets and forecasts, lead a small team, and utilize technology to streamline processes.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting to ensure audit readiness and compliance with GAAP.
- Partner with department leaders to create actionable budgets and forecasts using modern FP&A tools.
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of three, including an AP Financial Analyst, AR Accountant, and Staff Accountant.
- Leverage AI tools and platforms like Monday.com and Pigment to streamline workflows and build a "Finance Help Center."
- Manage tax filings and coordinate annual audits with a focus on transparency and integrity.
Requirements
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA preferred.
- A passion for non-profit finance and DEAI initiatives.
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Excel and willingness to explore new financial technologies.
- Adaptable and composed, able to handle a fast-paced environment and seasonal demands.

Pay
$149,000 to $163,000 depending upon candidate experience.
Schedule
Full-time, year-round, salaried, benefit eligible. Typically Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm. Flexibility, seasonal overtime, and off-hours commitment required.
