Senior Accounting Clerk
About the Role
The Sr. Accounting Clerk works directly for the Accounting Manager with minimal to no supervision and may serve as a lead for the accounting department. This role provides oversight for the preparation and processing of accounts payable invoices, journal entries, accounts receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory/cycle counts, and other accounting-related tasks. The individual will perform routine accounting functions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, provide audit support, and assist with annual reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Scan and file accounting documents in accordance with record retention guidelines.
- Audit and process expense reports, including updating employee expense user profiles.
- Collaborate with corporate treasury on Wells Fargo expense report issues.
- Perform regular reconciliations between two accounting systems to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data.
- Test and validate financial transactions imported or exported between systems to ensure compliance with internal controls.
- Prepare and process accounts payable invoices.
- Perform weekly Time & Labor Administrator responsibilities (all aspects).
- Prepare, record, and audit journal entries.
- Manage accounts receivable, including collection calls, invoice entry, and AR tracking.
- Communicate effectively to address information requests, queries, and complaints.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Handle inventory reporting and cycle counts.
- Perform various balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Manage Match Exception and RNV reports/account reconciliations (all aspects).
- Identify issues, manage risks, problem-solve, and work independently.
- Understand and comply with accounting policies and procedures (SOX, Gov’t Business Systems, corporate, and local processes).
- Participate in system testing for software updates.
- Provide overall department support as needed.
- Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and workflow.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum two to four years of experience in an accounting environment.
- Working knowledge of acceptable office procedures and basic accounting practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting software (Costpoint a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels within the company.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and work effectively in a team environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct Supervision: None. Indirect Supervision: General oversight of Accounting Clerk positions.

Pay
$29.00 - $33.00 per hour.
