Senior Accounting Assistant
We are searching for an experienced Senior Accounting Assistant to support the University of Missouri Athletics located in Columbia, MO.
About the role
You will play a key role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to apply your analytical and problem-solving skills in managing financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and contributing to critical reporting processes. You’ll collaborate across departments to ensure compliance and help drive continuous improvement in financial workflows. The role focuses on completing specific tasks and projects as an individual contributor, performing specialized technical tasks to support operations. Work is primarily achieved independently, however may collaborate with a team.
Responsibilities
- Support financial audits and ensure supplier compliance through thorough review and documentation.
- Manage and process Accounts Payable for construction projects, including delegation of approvals and resolving discrepancies.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts accurately and investigate any reconciling items or discrepancies.
- Assist in the financial close process by preparing and submitting journal entries and monitoring accounts payable activities.
- Provide expert guidance on company policies and procedures to internal teams and business operators.
- Handle various administrative tasks that contribute to the smooth functioning of the accounting department.
Requirements
- An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate confidently across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to learn and adapt to new accounting systems.
- A proactive approach with solid problem-solving abilities and a commitment to meeting deadlines consistently.
Qualifications
Education Requirement: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Pay
Pay Range: $18.39 per hour - $23.80 per hour
