Senior Accounting Analyst
About the role
The Senior Analyst, Accounting at VF is a highly analytical role focused on driving process improvements, enhancing reporting efficiency, and delivering accurate financial insights across multiple brands and channels within a publicly traded company.
Responsibilities
Perform and review lease accounting activities, including recognition, modifications, terminations and related journal entries
Ensure lease accounting is compliant with US GAAP (ASC 842) and is consistent across various brands and entities
Analyze lease-related balances and ensure accurate reflection in financial statements and corporate reporting
Drive month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations and variance analysis
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of lease related components of the financial statements in alignment with corporate close timelines
Assist with the final review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting deliverables prior to submission
Partner with Corporate Accounting and External Reporting teams to support quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements
Prepare and provide audit support documentation, including walkthroughs and testing support
Act as a primary accounting contact for internal and external audits and partner with appropriate teams to ensure completeness of supporting information
Identify control gaps or process inefficiencies and drive remediation and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in system implementations, upgrades and process improvement initiatives
Support testing efforts for accounting-related projects (e.g., system changes and new processes)
Validate outputs and ensure accounting accuracy following system or process changes
Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance controls and reporting accuracy
Support process efficiency, data validation and financial insights utilizing data analytics tools or emerging technologies such as AI
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a multi-entity or publicly traded environment
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and communicate complex accounting topics to stakeholders
Experience in consumer, retail, apparel, footwear, or multi-brand environments
Familiarity with data analytics tools or emerging technologies
SAP experience
BPC experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with focus on accuracy
Ability to review and challenge financial data
Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
