About the role
This position is responsible for reviewing and maintaining all MUSC leases, pension and other post employment benefit calculations, reconciling deferred inflows and outflows, long-term debt calculations, and payroll liability accounts. It involves presenting lease accounting calculations using multiple methodologies, coordinating with Accounts Payable, and assisting with the year-end audit.
Responsibilities
- Review and maintenance of all leases for the organization
- Reconciliation of cash payments to the general ledger
- Coordination with Accounts Payable for lease payments
- Presentation of lease accounting calculations
- Calculation of net present values for liabilities and assets
- Maintenance of regular review of leases for re-measurement
- Delivery of ad hoc lease calculations or reports
- Month-end entries related to interest, leases, and pension and OPEB
- Supporting the independent support organizations of the Health System
- Assisting with the year-end audit
- Calculation of pension and other postemployment benefit (OPEB) calculations
- Understanding and reviewing different components of pension and OPEB calculations
- Collaboration with Payroll for retirement contributions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
- Four (4) years work experience in accounting, business, audit, or finance
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook software
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, hospital/healthcare-based work experience, MBA, or CPA designation
