Senior Accountant- Healthcare
About the role
We're seeking a relationship-focused financial professional to join Plante Moran's Healthcare Consulting Senior Living team in Cleveland or Columbus, OH. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining accounting expertise with strategic problem-solving to help healthcare and senior living organizations achieve stronger financial results.
In this role, you'll partner directly with healthcare and senior living organizations, serving as a trusted advisor who helps leaders navigate financial challenges. You'll gain exposure to diverse client environments while delivering insights that drive organizational performance and long-term success.
Responsibilities
- Partner with client leadership teams to support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and board reporting initiatives.
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve results.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies by reconciling subsidiary systems with the general ledger.
- Prepare Medicaid and Medicare cost reports for various provider types including skilled nursing facilities, home health, and hospice organizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 3+ years of full charge staff accountant experience including financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and workpaper preparation or industry experience with Medicaid and Medicare cost reports for various provider types (preferred).
- Experience with PointClickCare or Sage Intacct preferred; Yardi, Peachtree, and/or Creative Solutions a plus.
- Must have strong Excel skills.
- Fixed assets and depreciation experience.
- Experience with FX and/or FAS preferred.
- Payroll experience, including preparation of quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
Schedule
- Occasional travel throughout the eastern and central time zones with approximately 5% overnight travel.

Pay
The compensation range reflects the base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this position across our offices in CO, IL, OH, and MA. The range for this role is:
$80,000.00 - $120,000.00
Compensation decisions take into account a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to: responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Generally, experienced hires are not hired at or near the maximum salary range.
For early career roles, including campus hires, we offer standardized, market-based starting salaries among individuals within the same hiring group.
