Essential Functions

  • Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations to management.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Absorb assistance with preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including construction-specific accounts such as WIP (work-in-progress), retention, and job cost allocations.
  • Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Absorb assistance with budgeting, forecasting, and special projects as assigned.
  • Formulate and prepare a variety of management reports, providing accurate financial data and analysis to support leadership in strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Perform job costing analysis by monitoring costs against budgets, identifying variances, and preparing cost-to-complete reports.
  • Absorb assistance with financial reporting, cost tracking, and forecasting for project managers and operations teams.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls.
  • Continuously improve processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency in project accounting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, operations) to resolve accounting issues.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month-end close process.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar – Viewpoint Vista preferred).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications

  • Candidates must pass criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
