About the role
Transforming Age is a nonprofit network of residences, services, and resources dedicated to improving seniors' lives. We are hiring for a Senior Accountant to support all aspects of the General Ledger, and preparation and reporting of financial statements for our organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides analysis and reconciliation of complex financial data to ensure that applicable regulations and accounting procedures are observed.
- Reviews current accounting, internal control, and departmental procedures to identify opportunities to improve compliance, efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of processes, financial statements, reports, and other financial information and services.
- Identifies trends or anomalies in accounting system transactions and evaluates their significance to ongoing programs, operations, or activities; directly addresses matters within assigned scope of authority and refers other matters to higher-level authority; prepares reports of findings and acts as internal consultant for unusual or complex accounting issues/concerns.
- Provides assistance on compliance-related activities including various tax filing preparation and cost report preparation.
- Month-end close: Plans and carries out all professional accounting activities associated with the timely, efficient, and accurate month-end closing of the General Ledger, including creating financial reports and budget-to-actual analysis.
- Journal Entry Posting: Primarily during month-end close, tracks, coordinates, and posts journal entries and ensures proper segregation of duties and approvals in the JE process.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepares all balance sheet reconciliations monthly for assigned facilities.
- Prepares materials for internal and external audiences, including reports, worksheets, analyses, documentation, and other supporting schedules for auditors, tax returns, and regulatory agencies; prepares detailed findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Main point of contact and provides accounting support to executive directors and department heads of the assigned facilities.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Performs general payroll functions as needed.
- Performs general Fixed Asset Management as needed.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
- Multi-state tax accounting experience.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (including audit preparation, budgeting, reporting).
- 3 or more years as a public accountant strongly preferred.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare preferred.
- Workday experience a plus.
Pay
The salary for this role is $70,000 to $85,000 depending on experience (up to $90,000 if CPA).
