About the role
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to handle a full range of accounting duties autonomously, including monthly and annual closings, general ledger management, account reconciliation, financial reporting, tax compliance, cash management, and internal controls. This role also involves supporting team members and contributing to team operations through knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Perform and manage day-to-day accounting operations
- Handle monthly and annual financial closings
- Manage the general ledger (GL) and account reconciliations
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process payroll and benefits-related accounting
- Manage cash flow and treasury operations
- Ensure tax compliance, statutory reporting, and audit support
- Prepare reports for executive management and Japanese stakeholders
- Strengthen internal controls and implement risk mitigation strategies
- Analyze and improve business processes
- Support, review, and share knowledge with team members
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of hands-on accounting experience
- Experience with monthly closings, account reconciliation, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
- Proficiency with SAP or other major ERP/accounting systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proactive, responsible, and committed to seeing tasks through
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification or progress toward obtaining it
- Experience reporting to Japanese management or overseas offices
- Experience in process improvement or operational efficiency
- Experience mentoring junior staff, conducting reviews, or providing training
Skills
- English: Business level (required)
- Japanese: Business level (required for coordination and reporting with Japanese stakeholders)
Location
Preferred work location in either of the following:
- Midtown, New York
- Irving, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth metro area)
Pay
- New York: USD 80,000–90,000
- Texas: USD 65,000–75,000
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
