About the role
The Senior Accountant at Gemini will play a crucial role in creating and maintaining financial reports and supporting various legal entities across the company. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position will be central to the Finance department's growth and efforts to enhance transparency and public company reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end close
- Account for digital asset transactions, customer custodial funds, revenue recognition and other areas
- Analyze fluctuations and trends in financial statement line items and provide insightful commentary
- Assist with the preparation of annual and quarterly footnote disclosures
- Support internal and external audit requests, providing timely documentation and analyses
- Identify process improvements and help implement scalable accounting practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and account for new transaction types
- Contribute to special projects, as needed
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally including public accounting and/or industry experience
- Big 4 accounting firm experience is a plus
- CPA (or equivalent license)
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Experience with fintech, digital assets, financial services a strong plus (but not required)
- Experience managing numerous competing deliverables
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ownership of complex areas
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
