About the role
As a Senior Accountant at Fiserv, you will participate in daily accounting operations, prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations to assist with monthly close activities, and record the accounting of complex technology-related expenditures to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Fiserv policies. You will partner with Finance, IT, and various stakeholders to deliver accurate financial reporting, improve processes, and support audits and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the day-to-day accounting for infrastructure and software, including collaborating with Technical Accounting, Application Development, Corporate Accounting, BU Accounting, Sourcing, Procurement, and Finance
- Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations supporting month-end accounting and financial reporting processes
- Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to determine accounting treatment for technology-related purchases and capitalized costs
- Lead, train, and develop the Central Accounting India team for assigned general ledger accounts; review work and ensure consistency with policies and procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements, and Fiserv accounting policies
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in Accounting supporting journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting processes
- Experience with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in a corporate accounting, financial reporting, or related environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (Excel) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar financial systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with technology-related capitalization, accounting for software, infrastructure, and long-lived assets
- AI reporting and expertise
- Master’s Degree
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or track
