About the role
EnergyCAP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role involves taking full ownership of month-end and year-end close processes, driving process improvement, and partnering on complex areas like revenue recognition and sales tax compliance.
Responsibilities
- Taking full ownership of month-end and year-end close alongside the Controller - with a clear near-term goal of driving the close cycle down to 5 days through process discipline and continuous improvement.
- Preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations with a high degree of precision - you don’t just complete the work, you understand it and stand behind it.
- Owning the sales tax process and compliance end-to-end - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit-readiness across all applicable jurisdictions.
- Leading a meaningful cleanup and ongoing partnership on revenue recognition - bringing structure, accuracy, and GAAP rigor to a critical area of the business.
- Overseeing banking operations and managing AP/AR - keeping cash flow visibility sharp and vendor and customer relationships well-supported.
- Delivering clear, insightful financial reports and flux analyses that translate numbers into narratives decision-makers can act on.
- Serving as a reliable point of contact for audits, tax projects, and compliance work - bringing calm, preparation, and credibility to every engagement.
- Prioritizing and eliminating inefficiencies - streamlining workflows and building accounting infrastructure that scales with the business.
Requirements
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ability to own complex close processes and operate with minimal oversight.
- A public accounting background is a meaningful plus.
- SaaS or B2B technology company experience - you understand subscription revenue models, ARR dynamics, and the accounting nuances that come with them.
- Deep US GAAP expertise - particularly around revenue recognition.
- You apply the standards confidently and can translate them clearly for non-finance partners.
- NetSuite proficiency is required - you’ve used it at meaningful depth and know how to get the most out of it.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical instincts - you’re comfortable building models, identifying anomalies, and turning raw data into clear insight.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred - and required if SaaS/technology experience is limited.

- Pay Range: $100,000 - $115,000, plus 3% annual bonus.
