About the Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will support a multi-unit organization through general accounting activities, internal controls, and financial reporting and analysis. This position is primarily responsible for the monthly general ledger close process, including the accurate recording of accounting transactions and preparation of financial statements. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare General Ledger entries and reconciliations for month-end closing in an efficient, timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation and posting of routine accounting entries to the General Ledger.
- Prepare analysis for the Inventory Excess & Obsolescence Reserve, collaborate with Inventory Management, and communicate results to management.
- Perform consolidating tasks and assist with the year-end financial audit.
- Conduct investigative analysis of accounting records to explain variances from financial statement reviews and inquiries.
- Assist with monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Maintain and analyze prepaid and accrual accounts, including recording journal entries and performing reconciliations.
- Assist in managing the Fixed Asset process and procedures, including the internal requisition process.
- Maintain compliance with corporate policies and employment laws.
- Prepare audit requests and assist auditors with inquiries.
- Understand and maintain internal planning and control procedures.
- Recommend improvements to policies and procedures to strengthen controls and enhance business systems.
- Complete special projects ancillary to routine duties.
- Manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of related experience; prior management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- In-depth knowledge of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and standard variance analyses.
- Experience with state and local sales and use tax filings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with all levels of an organization.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications, especially Excel; experience with NetSuite a plus.
- Previous experience in the automotive or service industry is strongly preferred.

Physical Job Requirements
- Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
- Sitting for long periods of time.
