About the role
Cricut is looking for a Senior Accountant to manage and supervise the accounting department's day-to-day operations, including inventory and other tasks as assigned. This role involves leading inventory accounting processes, preparing/reviewing journal entries, building reports, managing audits, and providing leadership for a remote team.
Responsibilities
- Lead all monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory accounting processes: journal entries, reconciliations, reserves, and inventory valuations, ensuring GAAP and SOX compliance
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for inventory, reserves, and COGS, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual financial statements, focusing on inventory and cost of sales (COS) disclosures and related reporting in accordance with US GAAP and SOX requirements
- Perform monthly variance analysis for inventory, cost of revenue, certain operating expense accounts, and gross margin analysis
- Partner with revenue team on completing and enhancing monthly segmentation reporting
- Develop an understanding and expertise of Cricut’s internal controls over inventory and other assigned areas and ensure maintenance and documentation of effective internal controls (including SOX), participating in control testing as needed
- Partner cross-functionally (operations, IT, procurement, sales/revenue) on inventory projects, system enhancements, and process improvements
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the accounting department
- Provide leadership and oversight for a remote accounting team of four based in Malaysia
- Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Document and define technical processes using accounting guidance from various sources. Write complex accounting memorandums where necessary
- Support the internal and external audit by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations
- Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments as directed by management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
- 2-4+ years of accounting experience; Public accounting experience is strongly preferred
- CPA preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively identify issues, and develop solutions through research and critical thinking
- Ability to understand in depth and complex processes, especially related to inventory
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on advanced Microsoft Excel functions, including the ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analyses
- Experience with SAP preferred
