Senior Accountant

About the role

SunStrong Management is seeking a Senior Accountant to handle various areas of general accounting operations for multiple asset-managed portfolios. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position involves completing monthly, quarterly, and annual close tasks, including the preparation of periodic journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting processes and functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting and compliance.
• Prepare periodic journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses of financial and other information for management, external auditors, service providers, and other stakeholders.
• Implement accounting processes for newly onboarded portfolios based on historical financial information, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and debt agreements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with an accounting concentration.
• 3+ years of financial accounting or auditing experience, preferably with a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task across multiple portfolios and prioritize critical deadlines.
• Knowledge and experience in US GAAP; driven to challenge the status quo, meet deadlines, and increase efficiency.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry.
• Familiarity with ASC 606 and ASC 805 accounting concepts.
• Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics, Xero, and/or Ramp.
• Experience with accounting for multi-tiered legal structures and partnership accounting.
