About the role

The Senior Accountant ensures that transactions and consolidations are properly reflected in the Company’s General Ledger on a timely basis in accordance with GAAP. The role also ensures that SOX controls and reporting requirements for a public company are properly executed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, document, and review General Ledger journal entries during the month-end close.
  • Conduct monthly review of financial results and variance analysis compared to goals, prior year, year-end, and prior quarter.
  • Develop and maintain account analysis and reconciliation processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and adequate documentation for manager/supervisor review.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reviews for assigned areas, including variance analysis to last year and current-year budget, and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare schedules and reports in support of annual and interim audits.
  • Reconcile payments of premiums and reimbursement of claims to third-party benefit administrators.
  • Develop accounting procedures for new processes to ensure adequate reporting and control consistent with corporate guidelines and GAAP, and communicate finalized processes to appropriate users and business partners.
  • Prepare presentations, including period-end financial reviews.
  • Address ad-hoc analysis requests from finance and other functional client groups.
  • Assess financial and accounting issues related to new business and strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting (preferred).
  • At least 4 years of relevant accounting and/or reporting experience, with at least 2 years of month-end close experience.
  • Experience with medium to large-size companies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including analytical and complex spreadsheet capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of a medium or large-scale ERP accounting system; SAP and/or Blackline experience preferred.
  • Ability to drive process improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
