Senior Accountant
Purpose Of The Job
We are seeking a driven Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Big 4 or top-tier public accounting professional ready to make their first move into the private sector. You will have direct exposure to senior leadership, meaningful ownership from day one, and a front-row seat to building scalable processes within a high-growth, multi-entity insurance organization.
Responsibilities
- Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Lead technical accounting research and document positions on complex transactions relevant to the insurance industry
- Support external audit coordination, serving as a primary liaison
- Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, and business units to provide accurate and timely financial data
- Play an active role in building and improving scalable accounting processes and infrastructure as the company grows
- Support M&A due diligence and integration activities, with direct exposure to senior leadership throughout
Requirements
- 3–4 years of experience, including at least 2 years in public accounting at a Big 4 or comparable regional/national firm (RSM, BDO, Grant Thornton, or similar)
- Ideal candidate is currently at the Senior Associate level and looking to make their first transition into a high-growth private company environment
- CPA license or active CPA candidate (completed exam sections a plus)
- Insurance industry experience preferred; familiarity with statutory accounting principles (QB/SAP/Netsuite) a plus
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP required; exposure to ASC 606 revenue recognition concepts preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with accounting and financial reporting systems preferred; ability to learn new systems quickly required
- Advanced Excel skills required
