Responsibilities
- Manage customer billing activities and ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time.
- Review and resolve invoice exceptions, billing discrepancies, and other billing-related issues.
- Research transactional issues across multiple systems to identify root causes and recommend resolutions.
- Reconcile revenue-related transactions and support revenue reporting activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners to resolve questions and issues related to billing and revenue.
- Support month-end close processes and other operational accounting activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within billing and revenue workflows.
- Perform daily fuel inventory reconciliations across multiple locations and systems, including pipelines, terminals, trucks, rail, and marine transportation.
- Research and resolve volume, inventory, and transaction discrepancies in fuel movements and balances.
- Maintain data accuracy across all relevant systems during fuel inventory reconciliations.
- Analyze inventory-related activity, identify issues requiring follow-up, and provide clear documentation and reporting.
- Support transportation cost tracking and reconciliation efforts related to fuel distribution.
- Work closely with operations, logistics, and accounting teams on reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives for inventory and transportation costs.
- Process and reconcile supplier and customer transactions related to fuel purchases, settlements, and transportation costs.
- Review invoices, settlements, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate discrepancies in supplier and customer settlements and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
- Support account reconciliations and other operational accounting activities associated with fuel settlements.
- Manage high volumes of transactional data across multiple systems while maintaining accuracy and data integrity.
- Partner with vendors, suppliers, and internal business teams on month-end close, reporting, and analysis activities.
- Contribute to financial statement support through accurate general ledger entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Support integration-related needs by maintaining stable day-to-day accounting operations during the acquisition period.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3+ recent years in consulting or interim Senior accounting roles.
- Strong experience in operational accounting, including billing, inventory, settlements, or transactional finance.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex reconciliations for revenue, inventory, and supplier/customer accounts.
- Experience supporting month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Experience with accrual accounting and fixed asset accounting.
- Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience working with high-volume transaction processing across multiple systems.
- Experience with Right Angle software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when working with complex transactional data.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including operations, logistics, and finance.
