Senior Accountant
About the role
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting general ledger accounting, financial reporting, audit support, and month-end close activities while ensuring accuracy and integrity across financial processes. Essential Responsibilities
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement analysis
- Lead designated portions of the month-end and year-end close process and support accurate, timely financial reporting
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, and variance explanations to support accounting leadership and business decision-making
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support revenue and expense accruals and analyze financial statement fluctuations
- Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries
- Determine methods and procedures to resolve complex accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the finance function
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff and support departmental best practices
- Cook up with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support compliance and reporting requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or MBA preferred
- 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
- Previous experience in public accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial analysis principles
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement process improvements
- Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders
