About the role
The role of the Senior Accountant in the Accounting and Tax group is to assist with preparing financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal accounting policies, to provide tax support and manage relationships with external tax partners, and to provide strong business partnerships to other internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Serving as a business partner to the Director of Accounting and Tax, other department managers and external business partners, including the company auditors
- Month-end closing, including various journal entries
- Accounting for international subsidiaries
- Accounting for fixed assets
- Maintaining monthly accruals and amortization of prepaid accounts
- Year-end closing including account reconciliations
- Managing chart of accounts
- Monthly intercompany invoicing
- Reconciliation of intercompany accounts
- Currency revaluations for multiple foreign currencies
- Tax Preparation assistance
- Prepare federal, international and state tax workpapers to provide to tax preparer
- File monthly GST Tax returns for Canada
- Other various tax filings
- Ensure tax deadlines are met
- Support an environment of internal controls that provides structure and integrity to the company’s accounting processes
- Maintaining current knowledge about the activities of the organization, and the impact of operational decisions on the company’s financial performance
- Supporting the Company’s long-term financial planning cycle
- Sharing ideas for process improvements that can improve departmental flexibility and reduce administrative costs
- Assisting associates with various accounting issues, questions, and reporting as well as enforcing company policies and procedures
Requirements
- Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the following areas: Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting or auditing (public accounting firm experience is an advantage), Financial statement creation, financial close and reporting, corporate tax preparation and fixed assets, Participation in audits, including understanding etiquette and working with external auditors, Auditing experience is preferred, Software: Oracle Financials (preferred), SAP, NetSuite, MS Dynamics Business Central, JD Edwards or other enterprise accounting system, ADP, Strong PC skills - specifically Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook & Adobe Acrobat
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA license preferred but not required.
