About the Role
You'll own new business and expansion across a defined set of federal civilian agencies — Cabinet-level departments, independent agencies, and the systems integrators who sell into them. That means navigating GSA schedules, GWACs, and agency-specific procurement vehicles as comfortably as you navigate a discovery call. You'll build relationships with security leadership inside the agency and with the contracting officers, resellers, and prime contractors who actually move the paperwork. Success looks like a pipeline built on real agency mission need — not just chasing whatever RFP crossed your desk — and a first year where you've closed at least one flagship agency logo that opens doors across the rest of your territory.
You'll Thrive Here If...
- You understand federal budget cycles — including the September scramble — and plan your quarter around them instead of getting surprised by them
- You can sell through a channel: a reseller or systems integrator is often the actual signer, and you're comfortable being the person behind the person
- You're patient with process without losing urgency — federal deals move on the government's clock, and you keep pushing without forcing it
- You've sold into government before and already know what a GSA Schedule, an IDIQ, or a task order actually is
- You build trust with career civil servants the same way you'd build trust with a Fortune 500 CISO — no theatrics, just credibility
This Probably Isn't for You If...
- You need a deal to close in the same quarter you sourced it — federal cycles are long, and you have to be built for that
- You've only sold direct and haven't worked a partner-led motion before
- Procurement rules frustrate you instead of being something you learn to work inside
- You're not comfortable being one of several vendors on a multi-award vehicle competing for task orders
- You want a fully built territory with a legacy book of business already closed — this one is still being built
