About the role

The Semiconductor Safety Engineer will play a crucial role in the development of the next generation of system on chip (SoC) products for autonomous driving. This position offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies including camera systems, RADAR, LIDAR, HD maps, path-planning, and vehicle dynamics functionalities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects and designers to implement safety diagnostics in both hardware and software.
  • Conduct safety analysis and verification to ensure that NVIDIA designs meet applicable performance standards, and actively seek ways to enhance products where necessary.
  • Optimize, automate, and train engineering standard methodologies to streamline the development process.
  • Support third-party assessments of NVIDIA's safety concepts and SoC implementations.
  • Aid in the creation of safety manuals, analysis reports, and user guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5+ years of meaningful experience in development and integration for automotive safety-related semiconductors.
  • Deep understanding of functional safety development processes required to adhere to the ISO 26262 functional safety standard.
  • Experience in conducting safety analyses on semiconductors with high levels of logic integration.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the work time.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing semiconductors for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous driving.
  • Understanding of neural networks, GPUs, and related design concepts.
  • Relevant safety personnel certifications (e.g. CFSP, CFSE, or equivalent).
  • A proven track record of achieving semiconductor safety certifications from third-party assessors such as TUEV SUED, exida, or equivalent.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safety engineering methodologies and standards.
  • Knowledge of automotive safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Benefits

NVIDIA offers competitive compensation packages, including a base salary range of $152,000 - $241,500 for Level 3 and $184,000 - $287,500 for Level 4, depending on experience and location. Additionally, employees are eligible for equity and comprehensive benefits.

Pay

The base salary for this role is determined based on location, experience, and the pay scale for similar positions within the company.

Schedule

The Semiconductor Safety Engineer role requires a combination of office-based work and occasional travel. The exact schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
