Semi-Truck Technician

About the role

The Semi-Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered semi-trucks and trailers to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software
• C Conduct repairs on brakes, suspensions, HVAC systems, and other vehicle systems
• Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, parts used, and time spent on each job
• Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and federal DOT regulations
• Inspect and replace defective or worn parts using appropriate tools and equipment
• Operate hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Collaborate with other technicians and communicate effectively with supervisors about repair needs and timelines
• Perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required; technical training or diesel certification is preferred
• At least 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy truck technician
• A valid driver’s license; a CDL is a strong plus
• Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and electrical systems
• Must be physically able to lift heavy parts, bend, squat, and work in confined spaces

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Exposure to loud noises, grease, diesel fumes, and heavy machinery
• May require working evenings, weekends, or being on-call for emergency repairs
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
