About the role
The Semi-Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered semi-trucks and trailers to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with DOT regulations. This role requires mechanical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software
- C Conduct repairs on brakes, suspensions, HVAC systems, and other vehicle systems
- Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, parts used, and time spent on each job
- Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and federal DOT regulations
- Inspect and replace defective or worn parts using appropriate tools and equipment
- Operate hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner
- Collaborate with other technicians and communicate effectively with supervisors about repair needs and timelines
- Perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required; technical training or diesel certification is preferred
- At least 2 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy truck technician
- A valid driver’s license; a CDL is a strong plus
- Knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and electrical systems
- Must be physically able to lift heavy parts, bend, squat, and work in confined spaces
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to loud noises, grease, diesel fumes, and heavy machinery
- May require working evenings, weekends, or being on-call for emergency repairs
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
