Responsibilities
- Participates in the delivery of patient care by performing basic and specialized physical and psychosocial interventions as defined by the Patient Care Technician Skill Inventory.
- Collects and records of specimens and body fluids.
- Performs venipuncture for blood samples, performs EKG's, places electrodes and obtains telemetry readings.
- Collections patient data as defined by the Skill Inventory List and documents these data on the appropriate flow sheets.
- Collections specimens, performs basic tests or sends specimens to appropriate laboratory for analysis per Hospital policies.
- Attends to patients' environmental needs by straightening belongings, offering comfort measures at the direction of the nurse.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by nurse.
- Orients patient/family to unit and patient room, and provides copies of Patients' Bill of Rights, as directed by nurse.
- Performs other duties as assigned by nurse to support unit functioning and patient care delivery.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma and two years of experience in health care delivery in positions such as: Nursing Assistant; Home Health Aide; EMT; Medic/Corps Person; or two clinical semesters completed as a Nursing Student; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
