Amentum is seeking a Security Training Officer for Las Vegas, NV.

About the role

The Security Training Officer (STO) is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering standardized initial, recurring, remedial, and sustainment training for security contractor personnel. Ensures strict compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), Department of the Air Force (DAF) directives, company policies, and customer requirements. Serving as the site's training expert, the STO advises leadership on operational readiness, performance deficiencies, and quality trends. Actively supports and upholds the Company’s stated vision, mission, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage standardized initial, recurring, remedial, and sustainment training programs in accordance with the PWS, DAF directives, and local operating procedures.
  • Conduct new employee orientation, site familiarization, security indoctrination, and job qualification training.
  • Develop lesson plans, task qualification guides, training checklists, and practical exercises.
  • Conduct individual and collective evaluations to validate employee proficiency and identify training deficiencies.
  • Develop corrective training plans and monitor completion of remedial training requirements.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through observations, inspections, quality control reviews, and operational performance trends.
  • Recommend improvements to training curriculum, instructional methods, and technology-based learning platforms.
  • Maintain accurate training records, qualification rosters, electronic databases, and annual training schedules.
  • Prepare training reports, readiness metrics, and performance summaries for company leadership and government customers.
  • Ensure all training documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant prior to official submission.
  • Track recurring training requirements and ensure personnel maintain required certifications.
  • Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operating Instructions (OIs), Quick Reaction Checklists (QRCs), and Training Plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, company policies, DAF directives, and customer guidance.
  • Monitor quality assurance findings and identify systemic deficiencies requiring corrective training.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations to ensure standardized performance across all security personnel.
  • Collaborate with site leadership, Quality Control personnel, Physical Security Managers, and Government representatives to align training with mission requirements.
  • Provide recommendations regarding operational readiness, personnel performance, and training improvements.
  • Maintain regular communication with security personnel to resolve operational and training issues.
  • Maintain small arms weapons qualifications for both the M18 pistol and M4 carbine.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of instructor, trainer, or training management experience.
  • Previous military instructor, law enforcement instructor, or equivalent training experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top-Secret Security Clearance (TS), within 20 months from the date of hire, pass a polygraph test, and all other security requirements.
  • Must successfully complete all required medical evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of DAFI 31-117 and applicable Department of the Air Force security directives.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic training management systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as required.
  • Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity in varying environmental conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing U.S. Air Force Security Forces Training or Standardization programs (or equivalent).
  • Specialized Certifications:
    • Air Force Principles of Instruction (POI) Certification and/or
    • Graduate of the Air Force - Combat Arms Apprentice Course
